BRAKES ARE THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE OF YOUR CAR.

How does the brake system on my car work?

When you press your brake pedal, you engage a complex system. Here's how it works: the applying of the brake pedal forces brake fluid to engage systems that force the brake pad onto the brake disc rotor, causing friction and bringing your car to a stop. The brake pads of your car are fitted to the brake caliper, this is the part of the car that applies and releases the brake pads from the disc rotor.

Brake calipers comprise the brake caliper housing, inside this housing is a piston or pistons (depending on your car) that push or release when the brake pedal is pressed or released. Specifically designed rubber components ensure that the brake (hydraulic) fluid does not leak from the system or allow dirt and grime into the system.

VEHICLE SUSPENSION – TELL TALE SIGNS SOMETHING IS WRONG.

One of the main functions of your vehicle's suspension is to provide a smooth, comfortable ride even when you're on a bumpiest of roads. More importantly your vehicle suspension's main role is to give the maximum opportunity for all four tires to remain in contact with the road, so that when needed, your braking, steering and driving systems are safe, effective and responsive when you need them most.

Your vehicle's suspension is very complex with many components working hand in hand including, shock absorbers, springs, ball joints, tie rod ends and suspension bushes. These must be kept in good condition to ensure your safety. If any of these system are worn or damaged your safety may be at risk.

Pricing varies on duration of months

Batteries often fail when least expected.

The usual warning is a slower than normal battery ability to crank the engine but other less noticeable factors such as changed driving patterns (holidays), colder or hotter weather will all have an effect on the life of a battery. ASK FOR A FREE BATTERY TEST!

Inside the air conditioning system is a compressor which contains a refrigerant – this is the gas which needs refilling regularly. When the air conditioning system is switched on, the gas travels to a condenser. Fresh air from outside the vehicle passes over the condenser and the temperature of the gas drops quickly and causes the refrigerant to liquefy. Now in liquid form, a drier removes impurities before reaching a thermal expansion valve which essentially allows the driver to control the temperature in the car by limiting the liquid flow. Lastly the liquid is turned into vapour as it travels through evaporation coils and is then blown into the cabin as cool air. Meanwhile, the refrigerant, now back in gas form, returns to the compressor to start the process all over again.
